Hello, I’m Kev.

Like so many people I’m office-bound in the week but at weekends I love stretching my legs and lungs with a good walk, and hill walking is my particular favourite pastime. It keeps me sane and healthy and frequent excursions to picturesque places, especially in and around Derbyshire where I am fortunate enough to live, provide me with lots of good memories and a huge library of photos to browse through on dark winter evenings.

I’m not a pro photographer just a prolific amateur so if you’re looking for technical tips on landscape photography you’ve come to the wrong place. I can spot a nice scene and a decent composition though, and with digital cameras the law of averages says anyone can take enough pictures to come up with some good ones! It’s the good ones of mine that I want to share to provide some enjoyment and maybe some inspiration to get out and walk and see views like these for yourselves.

I’ve been through a few digital cameras, all Fuji Finepixes (4700, 602, 7000, 9100) except for the last one which was a Canon G10. I was very happy with the G10 but it expired last autumn (2013) after many thousands of photos when the lens retracting/ focusing motor suddenly died. I was tempted back to Fuji by the big manual zoom and great reviews of the Finepix HS50EXR and so far I’m pretty impressed. The pixel level image quality isn’t quite up to that of the G10 but for all realistic purposes it’s more than adequate and the camera has a lot of really good, useable features.

I’m publishing the photos mostly at 1600×1200 pixels because I personally hate clicking on an interesting looking thumbnail only to be presented with a pop-up image that’s barely any larger and is still impossible to see properly.
