Kinder Scout is one of my favourite places. It isn’t all that high and there is no noticeable summit but somehow it still feels like a real wild mountain. The views looking inwards from almost anywhere on the top are of peat, heather and bilberry moorland with rocky outcrops and tors, and looking out from the edges there are more hills in every direction. This gallery consists entirely of photos taken on a walk anti-clockwise around the edge of the plateau. Including the climb up and down from Edale it’s about 19 miles so it makes a pretty full day’s trek. The first pint when you get back down to the Old Nags Head at the end of the day hardly touches the sides! This walk was done in September 2007 when the heather was in full flower. It was incredibly windy on the top but that helped to clear the low cloud that was there first thing in the morning and we were blessed with a beautiful bright sunny day.
